If I post something it will be caustic, so I won't. So tired of the Chicago Presbytery politics. So disappointed in the way they commandeered the money from the sale of the property and our working capital. They have soured my/our feelings about being a member of an organized religion. Still love my Lord; still am thankful; filled with awe and wonder at His works; care about my once church family. BUT, don't look for any more posts from me on this site. I quit.
The church is slowly being renovated so it will serve as a Cambodian Buddhist temple. If you've been by the building....the steeple has come down. We still stand with the NWSDayCare to see that they can successfully remain operating there. The congregation is no longer worshiping together. Thanks be to God for daily grace and the gift of His Son. Happy Palm Sunday✝️🙏

Well, Chicago Presbytery has made it quite difficult to draw this congregation to a close. Seeing as they control the money from the sale of the building whatever committee has that power is changing the rules! We should be grandfathered in as our closing process started over 2 yrs. ago and not have to wait until they work out a new policy to force us to comply to. God? Are you listening? Sooth my heart and frazzled nerves.

Where 2 or more are gathered in His name there is love. We shared that love and fellowship today 10-8-17, in the church's Fellowship Hall at 10 a.m. around a table, with coffee &. A little prayer, a little music, a little Scripture.... an abbreviated worship service. Next Sunday 10-15-17, same time 10 a.m. Same place, Fellowship Hall. Perhaps an ordained minister will be there to lead. Questions?Call Lorrie 847-640-1863. After this our place to meet may have to change.....stay tuned!
Please come by the church at 1755 Howard in Des Plaines to look and acquire some "stuff" that needs good homes. I'll be there Sat. Followers-The building is practically sold. With the approval of the sale of the building by Presbytery on Sept. 19th, a closing date will soon be established. Saturday, Oct.7, 9A-4P, Everyone is invited to our liquidation. We must disperse items like: banners, baskets. kitchenware. candle related items, wall art, Christmas decor/ornaments/garland wreaths, vintage choir music/robes. 3 ring choir folders, etc. Visit our website, desplainesfirstpres.org, to see a picto-inventory of some of the things that need new homes.

The members of this congregation and friends will gather Sunday morning Sept. 24 at 10A for worship .....the last time in this sanctuary. Sit to the right/west side; Rev. Dr. Wm. G. Grice III will be leading worship. Patti Richard is our organist. A luncheon will follow the worship service.

We learned from Pastor Chris today to recognize the seasons of our lives and not to get too far ahead of ourselves. The season of our church building's life is winter; we are nearing grief. But in the autumn of its/our existance we are still gathering, worshiping, singing, praising, praying, loving,.....This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
